Terms of Service

1. What WindsorDesi is

WindsorDesi is a community platform for the South Asian community of Windsor-Essex, Ontario. We host a business directory, classified ads, a community events calendar, articles, obituaries, and a newsletter. WindsorDesi is owned and operated by Harjeet Singh.

WindsorDesi is a platform, not a party to any transaction between users. When you buy, sell, rent, hire, or attend something you found here, the agreement is between you and the other person or business — not with WindsorDesi.

2. What we are not responsible for

We work to keep the site accurate and safe, but we do not verify everything posted here. WindsorDesi is not responsible for:

• the accuracy of business listings, including hours, prices, contact details, and verification badges;
• the legitimacy of classified ads or the people who post them;
• the accuracy of event details or obituaries submitted by the community; or
• the outcome of any interaction, meeting, or transaction between users.

Always meet in a public place, never send payment before seeing an item, and use your own judgment. We act in good faith to remove fraudulent content when it is reported to us.

3. Your account

• You must give accurate information when you create an account and keep your password secure.
• One person, one account. Creating extra accounts to get around limits or moderation is not allowed.
• You are responsible for everything posted from your account.
• You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deletion starts a 30-day grace period during which you can change your mind; after that your personal information is permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Posting content

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give WindsorDesi permission to display it on the site, in the newsletter, and on our social media for as long as it is published. You must have the right to post it.

You agree not to post anything that is:

• false, misleading, fraudulent, or a scam;
• hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory;
• illegal, or an offer of illegal goods or services; or
• someone else's private information or copyrighted work without permission.

Ad posters are responsible for complying with all applicable laws. Anyone posting in the Housing section must comply with Ontario's Human Rights Code — for example, a rental ad may not exclude people because of race, ancestry, place of origin, creed, sex, family status, disability, or any other protected ground.

5. Business listings

Claiming a business listing means telling us you own or are authorized to manage that business. Falsely claiming a business listing is a violation of these terms and will result in the claim being removed and your account being suspended.

6. Payments, subscriptions, and boost credits

• All prices are in Canadian dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
• Listing subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from your business dashboard; your listing keeps its paid features until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Boost credits are a prepaid entitlement you can spend to promote your classified ads. Credits do not expire. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account, and are not refundable except where required by law or where we refund the original purchase. Any unused credits are forfeited when an account deletion is completed.

7. Removing content and accounts

WindsorDesi reserves the right to remove any listing, ad, event, article, comment, or other content, and to suspend or remove any user account, at our discretion — including when content breaks these terms, is reported and found to be fraudulent, or puts our community at risk.

8. Obituaries

WindsorDesi publishes obituaries as a community service. Families and submitters are responsible for the accuracy of the information they submit.

9. Limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, WindsorDesi is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or from dealings with other users or businesses.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows the latest version, and we will tell account holders by email about material changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
